Welcome to the Home-Start Dukeries
Home-Start Dukeries is a charity based in Edwinstowe which provides support to local families with children under the age of five who are dealing with varying issues such as:
- Isolation and loneliness.
- Suffering with post-natal illness and finding it hard to talk to someone about it.
- Ill health, disability or special needs.
- Tired, unhappy, exhausted.
- Coping with twins, triplets or several pre-school aged children.
- Difficult relationship.
- Lone parenting.
"We are here to provide support for as long as the help is required. We believe that children need a happy and secure childhood and that parents play the key role in giving their children the best possible start in life and helping them achieve their full potential."
Carefully selected volunteers who has parenting experience themselves and have attended a Preparation Course and undergone a full Criminal Records check will visit a families in their own home once a week for a couple of hours. How they help is down to the family, it might be to have someone to talk to, practical support, reading or playing with the children, going to the local park or finding out about local service
